How the Rome Night Golf Cart Tour Works
Three hours after sunset — pickup near Piazza del Popolo, eleven photo stops, then back where you started.
Meet at Piazza del Popolo (or Hotel Pickup)
Meet your English-speaking driver outside Piazza del Popolo 11, in front of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum — or upgrade to hotel pickup at the time of booking. Up to 10 minutes of grace time is allowed.
Cruise the West Bank — Spanish Steps to Castel Sant'Angelo
Glide through Piazza di Spagna, stop at the floodlit Trevi Fountain, climb to the Pincio promenade overlook, and cross to Castel Sant'Angelo for a Tiber-bridge view of the dome.
Cross to the East — Aventine, Campidoglio, Piazza Navona
Head south for the famous Aventine Keyhole view of St Peter's, climb Michelangelo's Piazza del Campidoglio, then glide through Piazza Navona's three illuminated baroque fountains.
Finish at the Floodlit Colosseum
End the night at the Colosseum after the daytime crowds are gone — when the travertine arches catch the warm uplighting and the photos take themselves. Driver returns you to Piazza del Popolo.

What Our Guests Say About the Night Tour
"Easy to book, knowledgable and accomodating guide/driver, nice views of Roma at night."

"I’m giving 4 stars only because they rescheduled on us the first night an hour before it was going to start. But tonight we had Simon and he was a great guide! Golf cart was safe and had sides to help keep us warm. He took us to all the highlights and also took requests. We went to the keyhole on Aventine Hill and also the Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola where the famous mirror picture is on Instagram. These were both on our bucket list and it was great to knock them off quickly and by saving steps! Highly recommend for your trip. I think it’s better to do it later in your trip to catch whatever you haven’t gotten to see on foot."

"It was a nice ride , although the weather was a bit chilly but we saw a lot of beautiful places at night , the tour guide was helpful and gave a lot of information"
"Excellent. The guide Robin was incredible and flexible ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you for showing us and telling us about beautiful Rome. You managed to make us a part of it."

Frequently Asked Questions About the Rome Night Golf Cart Tour
Everything you need to know before booking your evening cart tour of Rome.
The tour starts from $46 per person for the shared 3-hour evening route. This includes the electric golf cart, an English-speaking driver/guide, photo stops at 11 illuminated landmarks (Trevi Fountain, Pantheon area, Castel Sant'Angelo, the Aventine Keyhole, Piazza Navona, the Colosseum and more), and audio guides on request. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available as a paid add-on. Entrance tickets to monuments, food, and drinks are not included.
With a 4.8 out of 5 rating from over 571 guests, this is one of the best-rated evening tours in Rome. Three hours covers ground that would take a full day on foot, the centro storico is 8–10 °C cooler after sunset, and the floodlit Colosseum and Trevi Fountain are essentially crowd-free after 9pm. See our golf cart vs walking Rome comparison for a full breakdown.
Eleven stops over three hours: Piazza di Spagna, Trevi Fountain, the Pincio promenade overlook, Piazza del Popolo, Castel Sant'Angelo with Tiber bridge views of St Peter's dome, the Aventine Keyhole (the famous keyhole view of St Peter's framed by the cypress hedge), Piazza del Campidoglio (Michelangelo's piazza), Piazza Navona, and ending at the floodlit Colosseum before returning to Piazza del Popolo. See our full route guide for what to expect at each stop.
The standard route runs about 3 hours, including stops. There are seven photo/walk-around stops of roughly 20 minutes each and three short transfer segments by cart (~10 minutes each). Start times shift seasonally — typically 7:30–9pm in summer when sunset is late, and 5:30–7pm in winter. See our month-by-month best-time guide for sunset times and seasonal recommendations.
The default meeting point is Piazza del Popolo 11, in front of the Leonardo da Vinci Museum. Wait outside the entrance — there is no Luxurbe sign; the driver arrives with the vehicle and is easy to recognise. Hotel pickup and drop-off are available as a paid add-on selected at booking, or arranged after booking by contacting the operator. Up to 10 minutes of grace time is allowed after the scheduled start; arrivals beyond that are treated as no-shows. See our first-timer's walkthrough for the full pickup-to-finale flow.
Rome's historic centre is among the safer parts of any European capital at night — these streets are heavily trafficked by tourists and locals, restaurants stay open late, and police patrol the major piazzas. The main concern is pickpockets around Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps even after dark, so keep wallets and phones in inside pockets. Touring by cart with a local driver further reduces exposure since you're moving between landmarks rather than walking quiet side streets.
Yes — the historic centre's Zona a Traffico Limitato bans most private vehicles, but licensed tourist transport including small electric golf carts holds special permits to operate inside. That's part of why a cart tour is so appealing: you reach landmarks that taxis and private cars cannot, and you do it without contributing to traffic in protected piazzas.
Wear comfortable closed shoes (you'll do short walks at each stop on cobblestones), a light jacket or layer (Rome evenings drop 8–10 °C from afternoon highs, more in spring and autumn), and bring a camera or phone with night-mode for the illuminated landmark shots. The cart is open-sided, so a windbreaker is useful on transfer segments. A small umbrella is wise in shoulder seasons — the tour operates in light rain. See our night photo spots guide for what to shoot at each of the 11 stops.
The cart accommodates most ages with very limited walking between stops, making it well-suited to seniors and travellers with mobility limits. The operator's listed restrictions are: not suitable for children under 3 years and not suitable for wheelchair users (the cart is not wheelchair-accessible). Strollers can be brought if noted at booking. Kids over 3 generally enjoy the open-air ride and the floodlit Colosseum at the end.
The standard $46 tour is shared, with up to 4–6 guests per cart (specific group size depends on the operator's cart). Private bookings can be arranged at a higher price for couples, families, or small groups who want a customised route or full booking of the cart. If your dates show only private slots remaining, the cart may have already sold out for the shared option that evening.
The tour operates in light rain — the cart has a roof, and several stops are quick photo pauses where light rain is manageable. If conditions worsen during the tour, the driver will adjust the route. For severe weather (storms, heavy rain), the operator may reschedule or refund. You can also cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund.
Gratuities are optional and not included. Tipping is not customary in Italian culture in the way it is in the US, but a small tip (€5–10 per person, or rounding up €20 for a couple) is appreciated by guides and drivers when service is good. There is no expectation or pressure to tip.
The featured 3-hour shared tour does not include food or drinks. Several alternative operators offer night cart tours bundled with aperitivo, gelato, or full Italian dinner — these run $115–$210 per person and are typically private. See the comparison section on this page for those options, or contact the operator after booking to ask about meal add-ons for the standard tour.
